An amalgamation of two paintings by John Martin was adopted to create this watercolour. The painter had in mind 2 Peter 3:10 and has written an explanation below.

"WILL COME BUT DAY OF LORD AS THIEF, IN WHICH THE HEAVENS WITH HISSING NOISE WILL GO BESIDE, ELEMENTS BUT BEING INTENSELY HOT WILL BE LOOSED, AND EARTH AND THE IN IT WORKS WILL BE FOUND". (2 Peter 3:10 Greek Interlinear Translation).

"EARTH AND THE IN IT WORKS WILL BE FOUND".
The elements that will be loosed by intense heat, are earth, water, air and fire. Within these four main basic 'elements', exist other elements, and are the very "works" that "will"/have now been found (discovered) and "loosed". It is these elements, and by their various combinations and worldwide misuse, that will become "intensely hot". Atomic elements that have been discovered as respects their energy properties will "go beside", or be made to mix on earth and atmospherically by thermonuclear explosions. This will cause firestorms, shock waves, and by radioactive fallout will pollute the main elements for human life through the intake of poisoned food, water and air (similar to the test explosion at Bikini Atoll, which destroyed shipping and all sea creatures in that area.

The teaching of Peter's second letter is that those who have a faith held in equal privilege and righteousness, and who have advance knowledge of "Jehovah's Day", are to be found by Him during that period "spotless and unblemished and in peace" and not be led away with law-defying people. (2 Peter 3:10-18. 1:1,2). Further, it says: "But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell" (2 Peter 3:13), indicating it will be the way God will adopt to begin to create His new earth.

Peter also said: "For you know this first that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule proceeding according to their own desires and saying, 'Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep (in death) all things are continuing exactly as from creation's beginning". But those who do not truly attain to repentance will be destroyed. (2 Peter 3:9). Have you truly attained to repentance, and have you the "advance knowledge" for earthly protection from the culmination of man's earthly madness, to go into God's new heaven and new earth? (Matt 25:7-9).

Because Noah was a preacher of righteousness and found favour in the eyes of God, physical safety was provided for him and his family during the destruction of the earth when it was deluged with water. We also know, by world evidence, that we are in the "sort of watch" or period that the "thief" is likely to come. Only acceptable baptisms in Christ's name correspond to a place of safety, as that of Noah's baptism (not baptisms of disobedience for the sake of being dead ones. 1 Cor 15:28,29). Noah and his family were "taken along" and the rest of mankind were "let go off": Abandoned. Further knowledge for physical safety, before the elements become intensely hot, are now being made known to those who are being "taken along". (Matt 25:6-10).

Jehovah God has begun to put "hooks" in satan's "jaws" (Ezek Ch.38) and has turned him around in open confrontation as to mankind's aspect under satan's demonic influence at the end of this system of things. (Zech 5:1-6). The important facts are, that although Jehovah has said He would speak at the time Gog comes in upon the soil of "Israel" (Ezek 38:18-20), and would war against those who war against spiritual Jerusalem within "Israel", He would only give the appointed time when satan's reign is to be exposed. (Zech 14:12 to 16). We are now seeing and hearing prophesied evidence of the actions being taken according to the anger of God against all that war against the people of Spirit Israel. (Rev 17:16-18. Dan 8:19. 11:44,45).
