How Can Anyone Be Happy?
How can anyone be happy:
When every day human souls are being brutally killed?
When sad children end their days before being fulfilled?
How can anyone be happy,
When many hungry souls sleep under cardboard?
When political tyrants are still man's oppressive load?
How can anyone be happy,
When religious hypocrites spoil and stumble?
When nations gather for their last 'rumble'?
How can anyone be happy,
When the love of the greater number has grown cold? (1)
When husbands and wives part, before they are old?
How can anyone be happy,
When the innocence of children has gone?
When they take drugs, their desire to live also gone?
How can anyone be happy,
When scientists plan human clones without parents, or love? (2)
When rapacious greed permeates societies, and there is anger above?
How can anyone be happy,
When Jews murder for a land, while living peacefully worldwide?
When they remind us of the holocaust, Christ's love still they hide?
How can anyone be happy,
When God is about to pour out His last anger upon the air? (3)
When rebellious sons will run from a lion, only to meet up with a bear. (4)
But:
"Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need,
since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.
Happy are those who mourn, since they will be comforted.
Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.
Happy are those hungering and thirsting
for righteousness, since they will be filled.
Happy are the merciful, since they will be shown mercy.
Happy are the pure in heart, since they will see God.
Happy are the peaceable, since they will be called 'sons of God.'
Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake,
since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.
Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you
and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake.
Rejoice and leap for joy, since your reward is great in the heavens;
for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to you." (5)
