In a word, idols. And most of all among these, God has said He hates "dungy idols". Yes, human idols, who love to be adored, who seek to be so, and who are worshipped by millions. Idols are imposed upon human lives every day and every night, mainly through the media; whether they are shown on television screens (even alongside important news reports), or are shown and described in newspapers, magazines, theatres, on the radio, and at open air concerts, etc.

IDOLATRY.
Idolatry, is having an inordinate esteem of one's own or of another person's talents, work, or appearance; to glorify or be glorified by another by veneration, worldly love or immoderate honour. This is the worshipping of the creation rather than the Creator, God. (Romans 1:25).

Many people show examples of their idolatry today, worshipping such dungy idols as sports personalities, film and pop stars, and other 'celebrities', all with an unrestrained excessive devotion and admiration. By degrees all such groups are guilty of idolatry, cutting themselves off from the very purpose of their lives: The promised life everlasting in the paradise of God. (Romans 1:32).

In past generations disobedient humans worshipped by the rules that other humans applied to their carved images of gold, silver, stone, wood, and clay. But when the Holy Scriptures refer to "dungy idols", human idols are what is meant; those who try to raise themselves above the majesty of God in a more direct manner.

An example of this is the pop star Michael Jackson, who studied the Holy Scriptures with the sect of Jehovah's Witnesses, and is therefore denounced by God as an idol that studied the words of the prophets of God. (See Ezekiel 14:4-8). Another recent example was in the unrestrained worship by millions of people worldwide, of the Princess Diana. She took up the mantle of the 'image' of the ancient mythological goddess Diana. This infamous young woman was, and is still, being worshipped by millions even though she is now deceased, and in similar fashion gave worthless 'suck' to the sick and the dying in many countries but gave no meaningful public praise or service to God.

Satan constantly tries to raise himself above God through his people on earth, to become a god himself through those people worshipping his idols. This work is intended to stop up the Kingdom of God before men; even doing so in The Christ's congregations by means of apostates called the mysterious "man of lawlessness", so-called 'elders' among the sect of JWs now revealed. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 NWT). The Christ Michael's anointed brothers were satanically translated by the demonic influence in such rebellious humans, through the usurpation that these so-called 'elders' carried out in congregations of anointed ones.

As referred to in the Revelation to John, the political "image" of the symbolic "wild beast", are politicians. In Britain, they are Members of Parliament, the House of Lords, local councils, police and military forces and all his other governing agencies. (Revelation 13:14-18).

All these, and all that admire and give their support to them, will come to their end. Michael's admonition through the apostle Paul is to "flee from idolatry". (1 Corinthians 10:14).
