Some Ways That Defile.

Much of what we reason comes out of our mouths.
When deliberately ignored, we tend to shout.
Only what comes out of the mouths of untrained minds
Defiles. Foolishness is unGodly, and riles all about.

Wisdom too, is useless in those withholding it; instead
Of administering it to others, to beneficially provide.
Useless too, those wise but who betray a trust.
Men should learn who are safe for secrets to confide.

We're advised to be quick to listen and slow to
Speak; though the reverse is generally practised.
The arrogant trample the words of others, with raised
Voices, ignoring opinions, and refuse to be chastised.

Humility they hate, affection they do not understand.
Their speech, like a dog's bark, --nothing can atone.
Holy conversations are anathema to arrogant men,
Even mild words in season cannot break their bone.

From the valley of echoes the words of fools return
To incessant talkers, revealing their emptiness.
Betraying a sacred trust is to walk the path of Judas,
Like dipping in another's bowl, ends in grievousness.

       And The Sacred Way:

"Through him let us always offer to God a sacrifice
of praise, that is, the fruit of lips which make public
declaration to His name. Moreover, do not forget the
doing of good and the sharing of things with others,
for with such sacrifices God is well pleased".
