The Lord Is Now "Taunting Them With Their Evil Plottings".
(From 2 Esdras 13:38 NEB).

They supplied deadly diseases to their evil kind,
but at a price.

Now our Lord is taunting (1) them with the same,
holding them in fear, like a vice.

They sold their weapons to foreign nations,
plotting (2) to destroy other souls.

Now our Lord is taunting them, by their own
weapons, robbing their families of souls.

Their secret stratagem was to divide the world in two,
to feed the rich from their evilly created poor.

Now our Lord is taunting them, before bringing down
the obscenely rich, to raise up the low, (3) and more:

He has begun convicting the Godless of their deeds,
those contemptuous of his righteous law.

Taunting evil plotters and showing them the tortures
they are soon to endure, because of choosing war.

Until men love sharing and caring for others,
and the abyss puts under restraint all plotters of evils,

When the Christ will remove all authority
from wicked spirits called devils.
