Some even said: Christ's words were shocking, ⁽²⁾
Even now, on his Word many ignorantly trample. ⁽³⁾

If instead they read and "believed all things" ⁽⁴⁾ with a
holy need, they would come to see the sacred Way,

His "Little scroll" ⁽⁵⁾ began sweet; is now bitter against
apostates, and permeates these poems with scriptures.

Apostates ⁽⁶⁾ acquired holy knowledge, but were for a
change, ⁽⁷⁾ "trampling" holy ones for a seat of godship.⁽⁸⁾

So they usurped the holy place, changed His times and
law, ⁽⁹⁾ seating themselves in a place of self-worship. ⁽¹⁰⁾

There is no salvation for apostates, because they exchanged
the truth for the Lie. ⁽¹¹⁾

For misusing God's Law they'll be taken by surprise, for
their contempt will bring continual torment after they die. ⁽¹²⁾
