Holy Spirit kept many under restraint,
(1)
then my Lord revealed their lawlessness to me.
Though in decaying flesh, my spirit grows strong;
maturing toward complete subjection
to the Supreme Will of Almighty God.
(2)
Lord, how many dispiriting attacks
and futility must I suffer, before I will
have proved my unfailing loyalty to you?
And yet, I rejoice in this old frame of mine,
that evil has failed to conquer my faith.
(3)
The spirit in man, like a weak muscle,
is strengthened by righteousness,
by deeds that accord with His Word.
(4)
Lord, You have taught me well the ways
of The Spirit in ways I could withstand.
The obligation and purpose of man is to come
to know and love the Will of our Creator.
A life of struggle for righteousness' sake
is therefore a merciful blessing. Thank you,
dear Father, for my long life, Your mercy,
Your loving discipline, and persevering with me.
Amen Lord.
